The sign inside said they were celebrating 41 years of service to the Alpine community - I'm thinking something has drastically changed for such a small establishment to remain in business even in a small community with such unfortunate food, service, and sanitary conditions.
It's "ok" but not as good as other mexican restaurants I have eaten at. I wish their enchilada sauce was a meat sauce and wish they had homemade tortillas. Their flour tortillas don't come with meals like other restaurants and if you want one it's 1.00 a tortilla! I had cheese enchiladas with rice and beans.
Been there four times. Great food every time. Service quality ranges from just okay to good, but that's enough for me. The food is worth it. Despite not having the best service, the staff is very kind.
The red sauce warms my soul. Dinner is always consistent. And it's nice when the servers know your name. Tea and water are served up in giant cups keeping you refreshed. And the salsa: So good!
As an out-of-towner perspective who is truly sad to leave such a review, the high reviews I've seen are pretty mystifying. We had three items off of the menu and none of us were pleased with our food. However, the flies there loved our food. One fly loved it so much, it dive bombed into the salsa and met its unfortunate demise. The service was pretty nominal (only 1 check on drinks and no offer to refill our small basket of chips) and thankfully there were some locals inside who helped us find our way. For three people to eat, it cost $43.00 and was a cash-only establishment.
Great Mexican Food and quick service for a small place. I went with a large group of about 30 people, and while we filled just about every table in the restaurant, the service was quicker than expected. The salsa was great (spicy, but good flavor), and the everyone seemed to like the food. I personally found the taste a little off, but I also don't eat authentic Mexican food very often. Nothing to complain about, especially considering how quickly our entire group was able to get in and out. On the downside, only cash is accepted so there was a lot of check splitting and IOU's within our group as not everyone had cash on them.
